How often should you pump a septic tank?
It depends on a few things. One, what type of tank you have—its size, capacity and speed. Two, how frequently it is used and by how many people. Three, how it is used—do you frequently have extra debris from garbage disposals or extra grease, fats or chemicals that end up down the drain? The general rule is, the smaller the capacity, more frequent use, and more debris in the system, the more often you should have it pumped.
